UNPACKING THE REAL

‘Unpacking the Real’ is Season 2 of the podcast, ‘Real is Not Real Enough’, an audio experience based on the diary of writer and philosopher, Gunther Anders. The second season unpacks and delves into the ideas from the podcast from a variety of perspectives (from history and philosophy to design) featuring interviews with key contributors to the audio project.

Drawing upon the idea of the Gordian knot - a virtually impossible object to unravel - the illustration visually alludes to the complexity of untangling the concepts behind the original audio diary. As a sister podcast to ‘Real is Not Real Enough’, the design needed to create a visual connection to the original artwork by illustrator and Walkley award-winning Australian cartoonist, Eric Lobbecke. This was achieved through corresponding background colours and sketched brush techniques as well as matching typography.
